swimIQ - school age learn-to-swim

Beginner

If your child is just starting their swimming journey book Beginner. Some Beginners will not yet be comfortable submerging and some may have been using floaties for support. This class focuses on building confidence in the water. Swimmers will learn to blow bubbles, submerge, float on front and back and start kicking with support.

Intermediate 2

Book Intermediate 2 classes if your swimmer can swim freestyle strokes for 10-15 metres and is learning their breathing. Lessons cover freestyle breathing technique, backstroke, and kicking. These classes focus on bilateral breathing and extending freestyle distance. Swimmers will also start to learn tumble turns and breaststroke.

Advanced Beginner

Book Advanced Beginner classes if your swimmer is confident submerging, can float independently. These swimmers will kick in different planes, refine their rolling front to back and start freestyle stroking.

Advanced

If your swimmer can do 25 metres freestyle while breathing naturally, and can swim backstroke then book for Advanced. Lessons focus on increasing distance capability in both freestyle and backstroke. We also cover underwater kicking, tumble turns, butterfly and breaststroke.

Intermediate 1

Book these classes if your swimmer can swim freestyle strokes for around 3 metres and hasn’t yet learned to breathe through the strokes. Intermediate 1 focuses on freestyle and backstroke stroking and foundations of breathing in freestyle.

Super Advanced

Book Super Advanced classes if your swimmer can comfortably swim three 25-metre laps freestyle, non-stop. These lessons focus on increasing distance capability, refining their freestyle technique, as well as building abilities in other strokes.
Coaching for this class is from poolside.

ORCA (Milford only)

ORCA is our new, exciting programme for swimmers who have proven their skill and love what they do! ORCA-level swimmers can swim 3-400m nonstop and may be considering working towards club-level swimming. Book for ORCA for stroke development and distance improvement. ORCA will set up your swimmer through a pre-competition programme and provide extended swimming to 500m+
